Ecolect: Online Library of Sustainable Materials

5-01-08ecolect1.jpg

Organized for designers and renovators, Ecolect is a website that catalogs sustainable materials. Features include user images and reviews, case studies, and a design blog. Their green criteria? Although they acknowledge that no green product is perfect, they look for materials that fit all or some of the following standards: biodegradable, recycled content, locally sourced, and energy-efficient...

The site has a lot of great content, but in order to be a true library of information, Ecolect will have to up the ante in terms of cataloging. Materials are currently searchable only alphabetically and by date. We'd love to see some easy-to-search categories (like tile, paints, flooring, etc). Click here to see ecolect's catalog, and here to read their blog.

Reminds me of the Cradle to Cradle library I blogged at Living Small in April. Unfortunately, it is located in NYC. An online catalog of green materials is fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
