Ah, the great dishwasher debate: We like to revisit it as often as possible, because it always sparks interesting conversation.
These days, most experts agree that a using newish dishwasher is more efficient than cleaning dishes by hand. However, the "heated dry" setting is a sure-fire energy waster. Letting the dishes air dry is a much better option -- so what if your dishwasher opened for you, to help expedite the process?





I think it's a great idea! Our dishwasher is new, and does not even have a built in dryer. I usually put the dishwasher on timer mode, so it uses the electricity at night, at low peak hours (and so we don't have to hear it when we're awake). If it opened right away after washing the dishes would get a lot dryer. If you wait, the wash cools down and the water doesn't evaporate as well.
