Smart Packaging: Daylesford Organic Milk

We've been a little obsessed with packaging as of late.

It all started when we switched from our regular old organic milk to Strauss Family Creamery. We're a sucker for their glass bottles. They take us back to the days when the milkman dropped the milk off on the doorstep (yes, we had a milkman in the early '80s)!

We drink the milk, we take the milk bottle back to the store, get our deposit back, and the bottle gets reused (even better than being recycled). We also like the idea of a milk container that just essentially disappears.

Daylesford Organic Milk comes in a container "made from calcium carbonate with a binding agent, which after complete degradation breaks down into water, carbon dioxide and chalk, for less impact on the environment."

Now that's smart packaging.

What's the best packaging you've seen recently?

perhaps when they start selling locally in the U.S., not just via the internet all the way from the U.K., then i would consider buying this product. the packaging is very innovative - i love it. i totally support this. however i cannot justify ordering this online considering how much energy it may cost for it to be delivered all the way across "the pond". no thanks - i'll just WALK a couple of blocks to the local supermarket for my organic milk in it's less advanced eco-container. no jet fuel required.
