As we mentioned before, Apartment Therapy will be giving 1% of its 2007 profits to an environmental non-profit through 1% for the Planet. Now it's time for you to help AT decide where the money will go.

I understand that Habitat For Humanity is a really charitable organization that does a lot of good for thousands of folks, but I sincerely wish they weren't so heavily sponsored by the vinyl industry. It's unfortunate that an industry so notorious for dioxin and chlorine poisoning has to be the one to provide the environmentally detrimental and potentially harmful (mostly for the producers) building materials used to create new and much-needed opportunities for Habitat homeowners.

What do you think? Are there any alternatives or should we overlook the negatives in a situation like this where people are actually benefitting?
