I've started using Aveda shampoo and conditioner. I had to ask for big bottles for Christmas, otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford them.

I love Lush's products (lush.com) and they try to use minimal packaging. I've also been enjoying using products from EO and Jason and soaps from http://www.biggsandfeather.com/
:) I'm a bath junkie so I'm always combing around for new, high quality products.

I'm unclear on the biodegradable part. Are we talking about the packaging or the product? My shampoo and conditioner come in plastic bottles but are a health food store brand. My soap is dr. brommer's - comes wrapped in a piece of paper.

Just started getting Giovanni shampoo and conditioner in the bulk section, I also use Dr. Bronner's Almond liquid soap and I put some of it (the soap) in a foamer to use as shaving cream.

Maybe Re-Nest could do a post on "Chemicals to Avoid in Beauty/Bath Products" like they did for Household Cleaners.

Neither Aveda or Lush avoids chemicals such as sodium laurel/laureth sulfate or parabens which some people beleive are harmful to us. The Environmental Working Group's Cosmetic Database is a good place to look up products. They also have a list of what chemicals to avoid and why.
