Survey: Green Badge Engineering

2_6_2008_Cimarron.jpgBadge engineering has been going on for years in the auto industry. Here's how it works: take a Chevrolet, slap some chrome on it, and call it a Cadillac. Oh, right, and mark it up a lot.

But now the same thing seems to be happening in the green industry. Our curiosity was piqued when we realized that old standby American Pride and hip newcomer Mythic both came from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. And now we've got it on good authority. Read on for the story and a survey.

The paints are essentially the same -- only the label is different. Both are made by Southern Diversified Products. American Pride, with the leaf, is intended to appeal to those who identify as eco-conscious; Mythic is for those more interested in style and performance. We're glad to see more choices in the market, but we'd like to know what you think about this strategy.
