We bought our tree from a local tree farm this year, we are forgoing the new (and usually plastic) ornament we get every year. We purchased more of our gifts locally and some were bought used. For each other instead of gifts my husband and I are spending a night out with dinner and a show. There are some more ideas on my blog like handmade gingerbread ornaments.
