Desk55 by Cardboardesign

Take a look at this desk. It's Desk55 ($150) from Cardboardesign.

According to their site, the desk is made from honeycomb cardboard, which "is manufactured using high percentages of secondary fiber (including old corrugated containers, kraft paper, old newspapers, and even straw)."

The company claims that the desk is extremely durable and, when you do want to get rid of it, it's fully recyclable.

So, as we prepare to enter a new week in the Fall Green Cure (a week called "Retail Therapy") this is our question:

Is it greener to buy a desk like this, that comes from recycled materials and can be recycled when you're done with it, or to buy a more traditional piece of solid furniture (secondhand or otherwise) that your grandchildren might inherit eventually?

We actually do need to buy a desk, so we're particularly curious about your thoughts.
