Varian Designs: Reclaimed Wood Furniture

Forest Dickey, a young up-and-coming San Francisco furniture designer, crafts furniture from reclaimed wood and metal. His designs can best be described as rustic modern. Springing from his Scandinavian roots they are inspired by the contrasting settings of his youth in rural Wisconsin and the concrete jungle that is New York. Simple and architectural, his furniture mixes both natural and man made materials...

On the Tyr table (shown above the jump) the legs were made from 150-year old hand-hewn white pine timber reclaimed from a barn near Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. The legs and trestles were made from fallen white pine from San Luis Obispo, California.

Forest scours the country for barns and buildings about to be destroyed, and reuses the materials in his work. Each handmade piece combines 19th century hand-hewn wooden structural beams with contemporary machine-sawed materials and laser-cut steel to create unique and beautiful furniture that is both environmentally conscious and architecturally inspired. He is part artisan, part artist, full craftsman.

Those are sharp-looking. We found (via Dwell) some cool furniture made from wood reclaimed from a bowling alley -- a nice bit of unique flare: http://marvinblog.com/link-love-reclaimed-bowling-lane-furniture-backyard-entertaining-tips-and-more
