The 100K House: And It's Green Too...

01.24.100k.jpg

01.24.100k2.jpgThe landmark price of $100,000 is pretty easily passed up these days when it comes to building a house. That's why we find it so refreshing to come upon the 100K House, a project being developed in downtown Philadelphia. The house is to be built green for only $100,000...

The 100K House will be a "2 bedroom, 1.5 bath house with roughly 1,000 square feet of livable space. It will be two stories and easily built on any infill, urban lot". Who's involved? A developer, an architect, and a builder. We'll be keeping our eye on the project's progress at the blog.

You know, there's actually a competition going on right now in Houston (of all places...) for a similar thing. Here's the link: http://www.the99khouse.com.

Green, small, relevant, affordable. It's all the things Houston's known for not being. And they've got a pretty nice jury lined up. I'm excited to see the outcome.
