Made from recovered aircraft fuselages, Bio-Luminum is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable. The airplane parts are melted into blocks and then sliced to create a lightweight textured tile. For now the metal comes from airplane graveyards all over the world, but the company, CoveringsETC, hopes to get to the point where the material is sourced and produced locally.

Bio-Luminum was awarded the 2009 ICFF Editors Awards Best-of-Show Award for “Materials”. The material comes in 3x6, 3x12, and 6x12 tiles - refer to your local dealer for prices.
Yes! Yes! YES! I want a whole wall of it in the kitchen!

Most, though not all, aluminum is recycled. The process to refine"new" aluminum is so much more expensive than recycling, that for decades aluminum has brought a comparatively premium price from dealers in recycled metals.

i can't see how this is going to be cost efficient. the part that throws me off a bit is "parts are melted into blocks and then sliced to create a lightweight textured tile" so you've recycled a part and then used large amounts of energy just to slice it into tiles? it's a really nice look, but doesn't seem very green other then the recycling portion. might as well be melting down coke cans and reusing those.

I love this, but "refer to your local dealer for prices" usually means if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

It's great that everyone is recycling and etc, but unless they find a way to bring the cost down to mass market price it's pointless...

oooh lovely, I was already planning to scavenge a nearby airplane graveyard for any useful bits for something like this, and for some other projects. This link is going in the superherowerk thought tank! http://superherowerk.tumblr.com/
