We thought that tile looked familiar...
...and yep, it is. It's recycled glass from Bedrock Industries. Stephanie blogged their Blazestone way back at the beginning of Re-nest. While the overall aesthetic is a little too over-the-top 60's for our taste, we do like the way the round shapes of the tile fit around the range hood without needing to be cut.
Image from the July 2008 issue of Better Homes and Gardens, now on newstands; a list of resources for the idea kitchen is available online, but no images as of yet.

Gordon Martz made a series of tile top tables in the 1950's with a similar pattern.

porcelanosa-usa.com makes a marble mosaic tile in this pattern as well.
I agree with the design of the kitchen though. It is over the top. I think if they simply switched out the uphostery on the banquet and the drop lamp it would do wonders.

That is just evil wrong wrong evil wrong. Oh, and evil. This just undid years worth of counseling. It brings back too many pea green and harvest gold formerly repressed childhood memories.
