Modwalls: Cork Backsplash
West Coast Green 2008

10-08-2008cork.jpgWe know cork is versatile -- it makes great flooring, cutting boards, countertops, etc. -- however, until we stepped into the Modwalls booth at West Coast Green, we'd never seen it used as a backsplash.

Modwalls' cork tile retails at $14.95 per square-foot sheet and, after sealing, can be grouted just like traditional tile. And, not only is the material renewable, it is actually recycled from the cork-stopper industry's by-products.

The example pictured above comes from the 2008 Sunset Idea House in Menlo Park. The tile can also be used for flooring and walls, but we're really digging it as a baksplash. What do you think?
