Bamboo Bath Towels: Pros and Cons

We own a set of blue bamboo bath towels from CB2. We got them because they're soft, antibacterial and made from sustainable materials. Recently, we heard about some of the not-so-green drawbacks of bamboo, including the big ecological footprint of importing and the chemical processes that can be involved in making bamboo fabric. We've been trying to gather more information to weigh the pros and cons. This article from The Ecologist and this article from TreeHugger both offer good overviews. So far, the pros are winning.

We have to say that we love our towels. They're soft, durable and so far they've withstood the wash better than their cotton predecessors.

We do wish we had more insight into how our towels were made. Since bamboo has become so hot in the past few years, we're hoping for more information that will speed up the process of further greening the industry.
